ASPIN Receives Navigator Funding

Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc. (ASPIN) receives funds for 2024 Open Enrollment. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc (ASPIN) $1,609,974 to support Navigator services for the 2023-2024 year. Since 2013, Navigators have helped Americans understand their health insurance options and facilitated their enrollment in health insurance coverage through the Federally facilitated Marketplace (FFM). As trusted community partners, their mission focuses on assisting the uninsured and other underserved communities. ASPIN Health Navigators has been one of the recipients for a Navigator cooperative agreement award since awards began in 2013.

These awards support the work of organizations, like ASPIN Health Navigators who offers statewide assistance to consumers navigating, shopping for, and enrolling in health insurance coverage for plan year 2024 on healthcare.gov or enrolling in the health Indiana Plan (HIP) or Children’s Health Insurance.  ASPIN Navigators partner with organizations for example: who serve new mothers, children, and families; minorities, immigrants, English as a second language communities, LGBTQ+; veterans; part-time staff/small businesses without employer sponsored insurance; rural counties throughout the state; criminal justice involved; homeless individuals; and individuals most at risk of losing Medicaid during the unwinding.

ASPIN has on staff experienced community health workers dually trained as Federal and State certified Navigators to support enrollment in health care coverage; to facilitate outreach events; provide education to improve health and insurance literacy.  Navigators can help enroll in both Marketplace plans and State Health Care options like the Healthy Indiana Plan or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan.

Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc. d/b/a ASPIN is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit behavioral health provider and education network. Incorporated in November of 1995 ASPIN offers access to clinical providers in over 50 locations throughout the state of Indiana. The ASPIN Behavioral Health Clinical Network maintains CARF accreditation under the Business and Services Management Network accreditation standards. The Behavioral Health Clinical Network is also a certified Managed Care Provider (MCP) for the State of Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction.

All services provided are free of charge.  Navigators are available to meet for appointments in community settings with a mobile office, via Zoom or over the phone and are also available during weekends and evenings, as needed.

The ASPIN Health Navigator Project is supported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $1,609,974 with 100 percent funded by CMS/HHS.
