The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc (ASPIN) $1,009,974. in funding annually over the next three years to support Navigator services. ASPIN has served as Navigator grantee since 2013 and is the only statewide grantee. The ASPIN Health Navigator Program will build on the previous years, looking at data indicators collected from individuals calling the call center and input from consumers at outreach events to determine where to focus outreach.

ASPIN will provide innovative enrollment, reenrollment and education over the next three years that will lead to greater access to healthcare options. ASPIN plans to implement a number of new initiatives to reach the populations identified as high uninsured and vulnerable for not signing up for health insurance in rural and urban communities.  ASPIN Navigators are also available to assist anyone throughout the state needing help with enrollment. There are over 45 agencies that ASPIN Navigators partner with and attend regular enrollment events at their sites.  ASPIN’s project director plans to reestablish a stakeholder group, meeting monthly and coordinating activities with other assister groups.

ASPIN will use experienced community health workers dually trained as Federal and State certified Navigators to support enrollment in health care coverage; to facilitate outreach events; provide education to improve health and insurance literacy.  Navigators can help enroll in both Marketplace plans and State Health Care options like the Healthy Indiana Plan or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan.
